The characteristics and advantages of plasma cutting
2026-03-12
Plasma Cutting, with its capabilities for processing thick plates and its high cost-effectiveness, holds an irreplaceable position in the heavy industry sector.
Core advantages include:
- High cutting efficiency for thick plates: The cutting speed for carbon steel thicker than 20mm is 3 to 5 times that of Laser Cutting. It is particularly suitable for batch processing of metal thick plates within 60mm. The cutting cost is only 1/3 of that of laser cutting.
- Strong environmental adaptability: It can work stably in outdoor, dusty and humid environments. It is not sensitive to rust marks, oxide layers, and oil stains on the surface of the board, and no pre-treatment is required.
- Comprehensive usage with low threshold: The equipment investment cost is relatively low, only one fourth of that of laser equipment with the same cutting capacity. The training period for operators is short, and the daily maintenance is simple.
- Cuttable high-reflection metal: It has no power attenuation problem for high-reflection materials such as aluminum, copper, and brass, making it suitable for processing scenarios involving non-ferrous metals.
Plasma Cutting Consumables List:
| Consumable name | |
| Electrode | The core component that generates the electric arc, with hafnium wires embedded at the front end. |
| Nozzle | Reduce the plasma arc and enhance the energy concentration |
| Swirl ring | Uniformly distribute the gas and stabilize the arc shape |
| Retaining cap | Prevent slag splashing from damaging the internal components of the cutting torch |
| Shield | Isolate external interference and enhance cutting stability |
| O-seal ring | Seal the gas and cooling water to prevent leakage |
