Main plasma cutting consumables

The Plasma Cutting system mainly includes the following consumables:

Plasma Cutting Torch
Function: Guide the plasma arc, gas and coolant. The core components include electrodes, nozzles and other consumable parts. 
Life span: 
Cutter body: 1-3 years (with anti-collision measures and proper operation). 
Wear parts (electrodes/nozzles): 8 - 15 hours (continuous cutting) or longer (intermittent use).

High-frequency arc-starting cutting torches are low-cost but have significant electromagnetic interference; contact arc-starting is suitable for fine cutting. 
The automatic height adjustment of the cutting torch improves cutting accuracy and reduces human error. 

 

2. Electrode
Function: Carries current and, in conjunction with the nozzle, ionizes the gas. The material is usually hafnium or tungsten. 
Life span: 8 - 15 hours (affected by gas purity and current intensity). 
Performance:

Hafnium electrodes are suitable for air cutting, while tungsten electrodes require inert gases (such as nitrogen). 
If the oxidation or pit exceeds 0.8mm, it needs to be replaced; otherwise, the arc will be unstable.

3. Nozzle
Function: Compress the plasma arc, control the shape of the arc column and the cutting accuracy. 
Life span: 10 - 20 hours (positively correlated with current and material thickness). 
Performance:

A small aperture (such as 1.0mm) is suitable for precise cutting of thin plates, while a large aperture (1.5mm) is applicable for thick plates. 
The dual-gas-flow nozzle can improve the quality of the cutting surface and reduce slag.

4. Protection Cap (Vortex Ring)
Function: Fix the nozzle, guide the secondary gas to form a vortex, and protect the interior of the cutting torch. 
Life expectancy: 30 - 50 hours (affected by the degree of damage from splashing substances). 
Performance:

Ceramic materials can withstand high temperatures, but they are more brittle; copper alloys are more resistant to impact. 
Damage will cause arc deviation and a rough cutting surface.
